Hello!

Let me tell you a bit about my personal philosophy:

I became a Naturopathic Doctor to help people understand their health and support them in making the best decisions for themselves and their families. I believe you deserve a health care team that has the knowledge to advise you and compassion to listen and understand.

My motto “Your health in your hands” means just that to me.

-I want you to feel empowered in your health journey.

-I want you to fully understand the importance of your symptoms and test results.

-I want you to ask questions, to understand your options and to feel confident in your treatment plan.

-I work with you to create solutions suited to your daily life.

I practice with integrity. I will be transparent with expectations, treatment options and cost. I also recognize my limitations. I believe you receive the best results when everyone on your health care team plays to their strengths. I am happy to work alongside your health care professionals and refer when your care requires expertise outside my scope of practice.

I am passionate about women’s health, mental health, being a wife to Jamie and a mom to Vivian and our stubborn bulldog, Reggie. As a mother and wife, I know how difficult it is to schedule time for self-care and honour that commitment. Too often, we lose our identity and compromise our health by the unrealistic expectations we set.

Understanding the difference between healthy striving and perfectionism is critical to laying down the shield and picking up your life. Research shows that perfectionism hampers success. In fact, it’s often the path to depression, anxiety, addiction and life paralysis. -Brene Brown

I love helping women rediscover their health through diet, lifestyle, hormone balance and supplementation. Health is vital to our happiness and identity. I will support you to successfully achieve your health goals and find your path back to wellness and your authentic self. You do not need to go it alone.

Let me tell you a bit about my professional experience:

In addition to being a Naturopathic Doctor at the Durham Natural Health Centre, I love research and am active at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) as a Clinic Supervisor and Teaching Advisor.

I received my Honours Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry & Biomedical Science from McMaster University. My degree focused on understanding how the body works and how to critically appraise medical literature. In my fourth year, I worked under Dr Joseph Macri at Hamilton General Hospital studying proteomics (or “how proteins behave in the body”) and cardiovascular disease. My passion for health led me to complete four years at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine followed by a two-year Clinical Residency. During my residency, I completed research in the management of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in a clinical setting.

I have worked at Anishnawbe Health Toronto, Sherbourne Health Centre and Brampton Civic Hospital. I also have extra training in pediatric care and intravenous therapy. I have been published in Naturopathic Currents and was featured in the magazine, Mind Body Spirit.

I am board certified, in good standing with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario and have prescribing rights.

I have a special interest in mental health and wellness. I worked on the Clinical Health Psychology team at CCNM for four years and have taken continuing education courses in holistic counseling and motivational interviewing. I have given Stress Management talks for the Durham and Toronto School Board and Clarington Public Library. Some of my favourite wellness leaders include Brene Brown, Shawn Achor and Stephen Covey.
